So…One of the main reason we decided to come to Belgium was to see our friend NEW2, hang out and most importantly do a few big walls together. The three of us haven’t done a nice big wall together for a long time, but have been speaking about it for ages. We where just in San Francisco recently for the Young and Free exhibition together, and planned on doing something epic there but it didn’t end up going down, because of time and availability of the right kind of walls. Anyway..so just a few hours after we spoke to NEW and booked our tickets to Belgium, he was doing the dishes broke a glass and cut a tendon in his ‘Painting Finger’ which resulted in his whole right hand having to be in a cast for months!!!
NEW2 being such a super positive graffiti wizard, began on practicing his sketching and painting with his left hand, and was getting pretty good too!! So all was still on track!…The day we arrived in Belgium we met up and went and knocked out some quick silver straight letters NEW’s left hand proving to be up to scratch, and then had plans to start something big the next morning. The next morning we got up early and started to pack up our paint to go start a nice big wall together. As we where packing up the paint, NEW leaned down to grab a box and SNAP!!..NEW falls to the ground in agony! Years ago he had broken 4 bones in his back playing soccer, and as he bent over to pick up the paint something happened…and it wasn’t good!…..unable to move at all, it seemed that the DABSMYLA NEW2 wall was once again…foiled!
In between our nursing duties over the rest of our time there we did manage to get some nice pieces done. Although he couldn’t paint him self, bedridden NEW pointed us in the direction of a cool spot on the water front in Wijnegem.
Mad thanks to MIO aka (mr good thanks) and JUSH for taking us out!
