Last week we took a trip down to Mexico City to paint 3 murals on behalf of ADIDAS for the ALL CITY CANVAS festival.
The ALL CITY CANVAS festival is a huge public art event in Mexico City which has brought a great collection of some of the worlds best to town to paint some incredible murals, such as ROA, THE MAC, ESCIF, VHILS just to name a few.
The idea was..that we would go down there unannounced, and create 3 walls that would be unveiled at the opening party for the event. One of the walls was made up of over 500 small canvases and at the end of the party the guests would all leave with a small piece of the mural which was pretty crazy!
Because we where in the middle of preparing for our show at Known Gallery ‘BREAK NIGHT LOVERS’ we had to hustle. We spent 5 days there working from early in the morning until late in the evening to get the 3 walls finished in time to return to Los Angeles and start on the installation for our show. Although we spent most of our time painting in an abandoned Toy Factory, we had a great time there and got a nice taste of the local flavors in Mexico City…hopefully we will make it back sometime soon to see more of what the city has to offer!!
